Britain's Prince Philip, receiving an award for a youth leadership program in Washington, D.C., was met by a small group of protesters who like his soon-to-be ex-daughter-in-law.
"We Americans Love Diana," read the sign greeting the husband of Queen Elizabeth as he arrived Thursday at the Corcoran Gallery of Art for a benefit dinner. The prince didn't seem to notice as he paused for photographers before heading into the gala attended by British Ambassador Sir John Kerr and several members of Con-gress.
Philip and Sen. Mark Hatfield, R-Ore., were honored for furthering the efforts of the Congressional Award. The award recognizes young Americans for their achievements in such areas as public service and physical fitness.
