Our devoted mother, June Fowler Oblad Allen, died March 15, 1996 in Salt Lake City, Utah, of congestive heart failure. She was faithful to the end.
Born June 20, 1908 in Salt Lake City, to Judson Orlie and Harriet Merwin (Rae) Miles Fowler. Married Briant O. Oblad, 10 June 1933. He was killed in action in World War II in 1943. Married Arthur Tranter Allen, May 26, 1950 and became the mother of his three living children, Elizabeth, Thomas Arthur, and Stephen Brown. They were later blessed with another choice spirit, Larry Fowler. Their marriage was solemnized in the New Zealand Temple. Art died August 29, 1984. Member of the LDS Church since 1928. She held many callings-most recently in the baptistry of the Salt Lake Temple. She is a devoted genealogist. Served in the Central States Mission after the death of first husband. Worked as secretary to Milton R. Hunter of the First Council of the Seventy and later in the office of the First Presidency. With husband and family, served a building mission to Australia and New Zealand (1956-60) and supervised the church building program in South America (1962-68). While in South America, served as mission Primary supervisor for the Uruguay-Paraguay Mission. Employed for 15 years with the FAA in both Salt Lake and Seattle; worked at the graduate school of Social Work at the U of U. Very active in genealogical work and in the Family-to-Family Book of Mormon Program. Member of Indian Hills Camp of Daughters of Utah Pioneers where she served as secretary for two years.She is survived by four children and their spouses, Elizabeth Allen Oldroyd and husband, Dr. John Jay Oldroyd, Woodland Hills, Utah; Thomas Arthur and wife, Linda Mohler Allen, Orem, Utah; Stephen Brown and wife, Nancy Billings Allen, West Jordan, Utah; Larry Fowler and wife, Darla Phelps Allen, Kearns, Utah; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers, Judd M. Fowler and wife, Peggy, of Anchorage, Alaska; William R. (Bill) Fowler and wife, Elizabeth, of Long Beach, California.
Funeral services Monday, March 18, 12 noon, 14th LDS Ward, Salt Lake Stake, 142 West 200 North. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Sunday evening 5-7 p.m. and at the ward 10:45-11:45 a.m. Monday prior to services. Burial, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
