Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. The new mission presidents and their assignments are:

- Norman H. Bangerter, 63, former governor of Utah, South Africa Johannesburg Mission; Parkway 9th Ward, South Jordan Utah Parkway Stake; high priests group instructor and teacher development leader; former multi-region welfare representative and region agent, stake president, bishop, and stake Young Men superintendent; president and owner of land development and construction company; attended BYU and the University of Utah; born in Granger, Utah, to William Henry and Isabelle Bawden Bangerter; married Colleen Monson, seven children. She is a Relief Society instructor; former stake Young Women leader, Young Women president and teacher, Primary president's counselor, Primary teacher, Cub Scout den mother, and Sunday School teacher; born in Salt Lake City to Albert J. and Chloe Shaw Monson.- Tomas Concha M., 54, Mexico Oaxaca Mission; Centro Ward, Toluca Mexico Stake; high priests group leader; former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and counselor, executive secretary, and missionary in the Mexicana Mission; general director of business; earned bachelor's degree from the University of Estado de Mexico; born in Huautla, Mexico, to Alvaro and Herlinda Martinez Concha; married Dymna Espinoza G., three children. She is a Sunday School teacher; former stake Young Women president, Relief Society president, and Primary president; received nursing degree from University Veracruzana; born in Coxcatlan, Mexico, to Alberto and Raaela Gonzales Espinoza.

- Richard A. Hunter, 57, New Zealand Auckland Mission; Almaden 1st Ward, San Jose California South Stake; mission president's counselor; former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and counselor, Explorer adviser, Varsity coach, and seminary teacher; attorney; received bachelor's degree in accounting and English from BYU and juris doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley; born in Los Angeles to Howard William and Clara May Jeffs Hunter; married Nan Greene, eight children. She is a Young Women president's counselor; former Primary president, Relief Society president's counselor and teacher, Young Women and Primary teacher, and music director in Sunday School and Primary; received bachelor's degree in zoology from BYU; born in Salt Lake City to Nathanael Sullivan and Florence Williams Greene.

- Donald K. Jarvis, 56, Russia Moscow Mission; Oak Hills 1st Ward, Provo Utah Oak Hills Stake; high priests group instructor; former ecclesiastical reviewer of Russian translation of the Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price, high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop and counselor, high priests group leader's counselor, and missionary in the Finland Helsinki Mission; professor of Russian at BYU; received bachelor's degree in Russian from BYU, doctorate in foreign language education from Ohio State University, and attended the University of Utah; born in Ithaca, N.Y., to Karl Hamilton and Revo Cram Jarvis; married Janelle Jamison, six children. She is a former stake Primary president's counselor, stake Primary chorister, Relief Society president, Primary president and inservice leader, Sunday School and Relief Society teacher; received bachelor's degree in French and history from BYU, and attended UCLA; born in Orange, Calif., to Horace William and Bernice Leona Tyler Jamison.

- Jackie D. Orton, 58, Alaska Anchorage Mission; Kansas City 3rd Ward, Olathe Kansas Stake; stake president's counselor; former stake president's counselor, high councilor, stake mission president, bishop and counselor, Scoutmaster, and deacon's quorum adviser; district account manager for E.I. DuPont Company; attended the University of Utah; born in Panguitch, Utah, to Preston Dee and Althea Thompson Friday Orton; married Carolyn Burton, five children.
