"Quinly Agonistes," written by Quincy Long and originally developed in 1991 at the Sundance Playwrights' Lab, is one of eight scripts selected to be presented as stage readings as part of the New Visions/New voices forum at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
Beginning May 20 the author and director Kathleen Dimmick will join more than 100 other artists for an intensive five-day period when all eight productions will be revised, rewritten and rehearsed, with readings scheduled for the weekend of May 25-26.Long's original script, "The Adventures of Por Quinly," was fully staged as part of the Sundance Children's Theatre program from July to mid-August in 1992.
The eight projects chosen to be showcased this year at the Kennedy Center were among more than 45 submitted for consideration last fall. Audiences for the staged readings include educators, publishers and others interested in producing drama for young audiences.
