Poet-songwriter Leonard Cohen calls a Zen monastery home sweet home.

The Canadian-born artist, 61, moved into the Buddhist monastery on Mount Baldy east of Los Angeles two years ago, after his split with actress Rebecca De Mornay, 36.Cohen follows the strict daily regimen of a monk, while continuing to write poetry and compose music in his two-room wooden cabin. He rises at 2:30 a.m. after just four hours of sleep and spends much of each day meditating.

"I never think of myself as a Buddhist, but I like the actual study that people are engaged in here," Cohen, a practicing Jew, says. "It's a lot like learning a musical instrument.
