A Sandy man was beaten, stabbed and robbed when he stopped to help two men with a car that appeared to be broken down.
The 21-year-old victim told police he was waved over by one of two men standing next to the stalled car, said Sandy police spokesman David Lund-berg. When he got out of the car to help, one of the men said there was a problem with a tire on the vehicle. As the man knelt down to look at the tire, someone knocked him to the ground. They took his wallet, which contained about $15, and when he tried to stand up, one of the men stabbed him in the right leg, Lundberg said.
They then knocked the do-gooder to the ground again, and he lost consciousness for a few minutes. The attackers left, and when the man regained consciousness, he drove himself to the South Towne Center, which was about a block away, and called police.
Lundberg said authorities are looking for a black man, between 18 and 20 years old, with braided hair, and another man possibly Hispanic or Pacific Islander, about the same age wearing a blue shirt. They were driving a newer model Honda with emblems or stickers on the back.
The victim was taken to Alta View Hospital and treated for the stab wound, head injuries and numerous abrasions.
