George Washington Kitchens, age 102, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 17, 1996.
Born on August 23, 1893, in Dawson, Georgia, the son of Wyley Dudley Kitchens and Willie Ann Collum. His family moved to Idaho in 1903, then to Utah in 1910. He married Dagmar Nelsine Lund on September 27, 1916, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, where he was later a Temple Worker for 37 years. She died February 14, 1974.George worked at Florsheim Shoes for 21 years and at ZCMI for 25 years. He also owned and operated a farm and several businesses including Eagle Clothiers, Men's Apparel Shop, Millstream Mobile Home Park and Collum Enterprises, Inc. George also enjoyed many sports.
Survived by his four children, Ella May (Albert) Wagner, George W. Kitchens, Jr., Raymond L. "Kit" (Neda) Kitchens, and Richard E. (Doris) Kitchens; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife; five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, March 23, 1996, at the Southgate Ward, 2702 So. Main Street. Friends may call Friday evening at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple from 6-8 p.m. and at the ward Saturday 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
