Gordon Fairbanks Welsh, 46, died March 19, 1996 after a brief illness.

He was a science teacher at Granger High School. He will be remembered for his great love of knowledge and learning, his passion for science and history and his enthusiasm for the natural world.Born April 14, 1949 to Wayne S. and Ora Fairbanks Welsh, he attended Highland High School and had a B.S. and an M.S. from the University of Utah. He taught for 21 years, 14 at Granger High School.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Julie Anderson; his parents; his five brothers and sisters-in-law, W. Byron (Joan) of Salt Lake; Dr. Ralph S. (Jane) of Georgetown, Conn.; Paul B. (Georgia) of Wilmington, Delaware; and Neil F. (Lillian) of San Jose, Calif.; his sister, Harriet of Oakland, Calif.; three nieces, eight nephews, aunts and cousins. He will also be mourned by his many friends, colleagues, students and former students to whom he was devoted. He also leaves his much loved dog, Junie.

Funeral services will be 12 noon on Saturday, March 23, 1996 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 So. Highland Drive, where friends may call Friday, from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services.

Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
