Supermodel Linda Evangelista is suing France's far-right National Front over a party poster depicting her as Joan of Arc.
A Paris court already ordered the National Front to stop printing the posters with Evangelista's face superimposed on a picture of the 15th century French heroine. The court also awarded Evangelista and photographer Karl Lagerfeld each about $16,000 and her agency, Elite, $8,000.But Evangelista filed a lawsuit Thursday demanding about $200,000 in additional damages. She contended the party's use of her photo damaged her image and was an invasion of privacy.
The National Front, led by anti-immigration crusader Jean-Marie Le Pen, has claimed Joan of Arc as a symbol of French strength and courage. It has not said why it used Evangelista's face. She has no link to the party.
