A group of Norwegian Americans and other Scandinavians will gather to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day, the equivalent of Independence Day, at the International Peace Gardens, 1000 South 900 West, on Saturday, May 18, 1996 at 10 a.m.

Ola Hans Urstad, General Counsel of Norway, will be speaking. There will also be children's games, ethnic food and a parade. The event is free and open to the public.There is also a dinner scheduled for that evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Sons of the Utah Pioneers Building, 3301 E. 2920 South. The dinner will cost $5 per person and feature a speech by Doug Engh on the significance of Norwegian Independence Day, along with traditional Scandinavian music and dance.
