Kathryn Miano, a Univerity of Utah nursing student, takes the temperature and blood pressure of Cuc Nguyen, formerly of Vietnam, during the 1996 health fair for immigrants and refugees Saturday. The annual event, sponsored by New Hope Refugee Friendship Center and Intermountain Health Care, marked the first time some refugees ever had a health check. Besides receiving information about medications, baby care, cancer screening and juvenile court programs, participants were immunized and received cholesterol, eye, blood pressure, dental and hearing tests.
