The SCERA Children's Theatre will hold a summer workshop with the first session beginning Monday, June 24, and another July 1, at the new SCERA Center.
The SCERA Children's Theatre is under the direction of Anna Murdock, who created the Spanish Fork Children's Theatre and has run the program for more than two decades. She has received awards for her set and costume designs and has directed nearly 80 productions. The children's theater is part of SCERA's goal to use the new center to benefit youths. SCERA President Norm Nielsen says this program will continue his goal to "get kids high on the arts, not high on drugs."
The program, for ages 6-15, offers a 3-week workshop, with classes held at the SCERA Center, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. The workshop will culminate with six performances of "Aesop's Fables" at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre.
Those interested may register before June 23 at 745 S. State, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. The cost is $50 and enrollment is limited to 35 children per workshop.
