Jazz and folk music will highlight some upcoming events.
- JAZZ GREAT MAYNARD FERGUSON AND THE BIG BOP NOUVEAU BAND will play the Bountiful High School auditorium, Friday, May 24. The music begins at 8 p.m.Tickets are $15, available at Summerhays Music or at the door.
Ferguson, now at his fourth decade as a band leader, is not only a dynamic instrumentalist but also a producer, composer and educator.
The three-time Grammy nominee and Down Beat jazz poll winner began playing piano and violin at age 4. He moved to the trumpet at 9 and won a scholarship to the French Conservatory of Music at 13. He's shared the stage with Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, the Dorsey Brothers and Dizzy Gillespie.
Feguson's music has been featured in various motion pictures including "The Ten Commandments" and Bill Conti's "Gonna Fly Now," the theme to "Rocky."
- THE NASHVILLE BLUEGRASS BAND will play the Bryant Intermediate School Auditorium, 40 S. 800 East, Friday, May 24. The Marty Warburton Band will open the show at 7:30 p.m.

The Nashville Bluegrass Band currently has two Grammys and numerous International Bluegrass Music Association awards under its belt. It is one of the greatest bluegrass bands of its time.
