SNOW'S MELTED, SO PULL OUT THE CLUBS

When the skis are in storage and the snow has melted in Park City, it's time to pull out the clubs and start swinging.

Park City, located 35 minutes east of Salt Lake City, offers golfers six distinct courses; two within the city limits and four others just a short drive away.The Park Meadows Golf Course, the Park City Municipal Golf Course and The Jeremy Ranch Golf Course, are 18-hole courses that offer very different topography.

Golfers enjoy the "ego golfing" they experience in Park City due to the high altitude (6,900 feet) which helps the golf balls fly further. Here are some facts about each course.

The Park Meadows Golf Club is Utah's only Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and is recognized as being one of the finest Scottish link courses in the country. This is a public resort course featuring 105 sand bunkers and carefully manicured greens and fairways (7,338 yards, par 72, rating 71).

The Park Meadows Golf Course is also the home of the Franklin Quest Championship, a PGA-sanctioned seniors golf tournament.

Green fees are $68 for 18 holes and $44 for 9 holes. (Green fees include cart rental.) For more information call 801-649-2460.

The Park City Municipal Golf Course is a public course with abundant lakes and lined with aspen and pine trees (6,400 yards, par 72, rating 69.7). Green fees are $29 for 18 holes, or $14.50 for 9 holes. Cart rentals are $22.50 for 18 holes or $13.50 for 9 holes. For more information call 801-649-8701.

About 10 minutes outside of Park City is the Jeremy Ranch Golf Course. This private course was designed by Arnold Palmer. For more information call 801-649-2700.

The Homestead Golf Course is a 20-mile drive outside of Park City in Midway. This is the area's newest 18-hole golf course (built in 1990) and is located at The Homestead, a historic country inn resort (7,000 yards, par 72, white rated). Green Fees are $26 for 18 holes and $13 for 9 holes Monday through Thursday, and $36 for 18 holes and $18 for 9 holes Friday through Sunday.

Also nearby, are Mountain Dell and Wasatch Mountain State Park, both public golf courses.

Mountain Dell charges $16 for 18 holes and $8.50 for 9 holes, Monday through Thursday, and $18 for 18 holes and $9.50 for 9 holes, Friday through Sunday. Cart fees are $8.50 for 18 holes and $4.25 for 9 holes. (36-hole course, 6,150 yards, rating 68). For more information call 801-582- 3812.
