Utah Valley State College honored two retiring faculty members during its recent commencement ceremonies and at a special open house.
Helen Ashton and Robert Jenkins, who have served 38 years and 29 years respectively, will retire at the conclusion of spring semester.In 1957, Ashton joined the faculty as a professor in the office technology and administration department. She served as department chairwoman for 17 years. She currently serves in the capacity of professor, director of the center for teaching excellence and assistant academic vice president.
Jenkins first joined UVSC in 1967 as an accounting professor. Since then he has served on the faculty senate, as acting department chairman and on several other committees. He also served as the director of computer services for more than five years.
