Mourners at a wake for a murdered Filipino waitress were stunned on Thursday when the woman they were grieving for walked in very much alive, police said.
The parents of Leni Dayap, 21, were prepared to bury her in her hometown of Santa Maria after claiming from a funeral parlor what they thought was the body of the daughter they had spent two weeks looking for. They had gone to the funeral parlor in the Manila suburb of Kalookan after Manila newspapers published a photograph of a woman whose throat was slit by two unknown killers in a Manila motel on April 19.
"They were real look-alikes," police Sgt. Charito Gumansing said of the two women.
Leni returned home after reading in a Manila newspaper that her parents had identified her as the dead woman.
