ENTERPRISE MAN SENT TO JAIL FOR CHILD PORN

A judge has sentenced an 18-year-old Enterprise man to prison for possessing images of child pornography obtained through a computer.

Fifth District Judge James Shu-mate on Wednesday sentenced Adam Nicoll to five one-to-15-year prison sentences on five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Three of the sentences will run consecutively. In handing down the sentence, the judge pointed to Nicoll's previous convictions for lewdness involving a child, sexual abuse of a child, aggravated kidnapping and construction of a bomb.

Defense attorney J. MacArthur Wright had argued for probation, likening Nicoll to an addict who was willing to be rehabilitated.

In an agreement with prosecutors, Nicoll pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor for possessing child pornography. In exchange, prosecutors dropped 12 similar charges.

In March, Nicoll had shown computer images of bestiality to a 16-year-old boy and threatened his life over the phone, according to an affidavit from the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Nicoll was arrested after the boy complained to authorities.
