DEATH: CARL WASHINGTON

Carl Washington, 85, died peacefully on May 19, 1996 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born April 23, 1911 to Mary Guyse and Ollie Washington in Forrest, Mississippi. He married Essie Mae Walton Reed, May 22, 1934 in Gallup, New Mexico. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He served as a deacon. He joined Calvary in 1943. He was a member of the Masonic Order, Beautiful Lodge No. 395, Texas Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliated. He retired from Kennecott Copper in 1976 after 33 years.He is survived by his wife; children, Clay James, Oakland, California; Jessie Owens, Denver, Colorado; Carl, Jr. (Lazon), Los Angeles, California; Mary Lee Green (James), Salt Lake City, Utah; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services Friday, May 24, 1996, will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church, 532 East 700 South at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to service, 12 noon until 1 p.m.

Sincere thanks to the staff of Hillhaven Health and Rehabilitation Center, especially to Lorraine and Virginia.

The family requests donations be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund in Carl's name, in lieu of flowers.
