Walcott B. Thompson, 90, retired insurance broker, died peacefully at his home May 10, 1996.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on December 8, 1905, he was the son of the late John Walcott and May Lillian (Bishop) Thompson. He had resided in Winchester for many years before moving to Rockport 28 years ago. He had also summered in Rockport for many years.He was a graduate of the Kent School in Connecticut, with the class of 1924, Yale University, class of 1928, and the Harvard Business School class of 1930.
Mr. Thompson was a self-employed insurance broker, having represented the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. for more than 50 years. He was a member and treasurer emeritus of Christ Church in Cambridge. His family was the most important part of his life.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and E. Arthur Tutein of Rockport, and Margaret and Bernard P. Lopez of Melrose; a son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Marilyn (Santapaola) Thompson of Rockport; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Hildegarde Thompson Pischel of Salt Lake City; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sister, Dorothy T. Alexander.
