DEATH: JOHN ALLEN FIELDS, SR.

John Allen Fields, Sr., fell asleep in Christ on May 17, 1996 at 11:20 p.m. in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection at the age of 85 years.

He was born Feb. 24, 1911 in Pittsburg, Kansas, son of John A. and Olah F. Allen Fields. He married Mary Cathryn Crocker in Oswego, Kansas on July 21, 1932. She died March 28, 1988.Al was an active member of the West Valley Southern Baptist Church. Retired from Utah Pipe Trades Local 57. Veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II. Long-time member of Osage Masonic Lodge of Nevada, Mo.

Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Steve Weiss, Sandy; Nancy and Tom Sheppard, Ione, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lenore Gardner; Shirley Belnap; sister-in-law, LaVon Owen; niece, Marilyn Owen; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Marcell, Ted and Sheryl Osborne; Ed and Opal Collins. Preceded in death by son, Jay, in 1987; and sister, Mildred Fields, in 1961.

Funeral services Saturday, May 25, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the West Valley First Baptist Church, 3831 South 2700 West. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
