BROTHERHOOD OF SKIERS TO SKI INTO S.L. IN '99

The National Brotherhood of Skiers will bring 7,000 of its members to Salt Lake City in 1999.

Jeri Cartwright, spokeswoman for the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau, said the bureau worked four years to convince the group, said to be the largest ski club in the nation with 18,000 members, that Salt Lake is the place for its convention.Cartwright said the bureau's Jean Tracy and Mark White bid for the group in Innsbruck, Austria, tirelessly lobbying club chapter presidents. In the balloting by members, Salt Lake received 62 percent of the vote.

Cartwright said bringing the NBS to Salt Lake should provide a $9.5 million boost to the local economy.
