A young girl died at Mountain View Hospital in Payson after a traffic accident Thursday.
Killed was:Kearstine Curtis, 4, Spanish Fork.
Curtis was the lone rear-seat passenger in a car driven by her grandfather, Demar Martin, said Spanish Fork Police Lt. Carl Johnston. The car and a vehicle driven by Bill Espinoza, 59, Salt Lake City, collided at the intersection of U.S. 6 and Center Street.
Curtis was wearing a seat belt, but the force of the crash caused her to slip it out of it, and she was thrown against the vehicle's side wall, police said.
Martin, along with Curtis' two brothers, who were both in the front seat, were treated for minor injuries at Mountain View Hospital and released. Espinoza was also treated at the hospital.
Police said Martin's car, eastbound on Center Street, apparently was making a left turn onto U.S. 6 when it was broadsided by Espinoza's car, which was southbound on the highway.
