CAPTION ONLY: 2 KILLED WHILE WALKING PICKET LINE

Police investigate an accident in which two women were killed Friday when they were hit by a car while walking a picket line outside a Safeway store in Denver. Deli manager Juanita Ramsey, 52, and meat cutter Jacqueline Novak, 57, were killed when the car careened onto the sidewalk where they were picketing. Police said the driver, a 55-year-old woman, apparently fell asleep at the wheel. The car jumped a curb, hit the strikers, a tree and the back of a truck before it crashed into a wall. After the accident, Safeway closed the store out of respect for the two women, a spokesman said.
