Martha Zola Ellingford Smedley, age 84, passed away May 23, 1996, on her 64th wedding anniversary.
She was born April 27, 1912 in Ammon, Idaho to Arthur Ellingford and Martha Ashdown.She married Orva "Bud" Wilson Smedley on May 23, 1932. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 3, 1963. Martha was an honest person, very giving and self-sacrificing. She was an excellent cook and housekeeper. She loved gardening and shopping, especially for shoes!
She is survived by her husband "Bud", children; Jacqueline (Richard) Alder, Oakland, Calif.; Max Wilson (Utahna) Smedley, Anaheim, Calif.; Sue Bruerton, Sandy, Utah; Paul Scott (Carol) Smedley, Centerville, Utah; a sister, Elsie Call, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two daughters; Diana and Geniel Smedley; brothers and sisters, Ed, Sam, Ben, Thomas Ellingford, Gertrude Hendricksen and Jennie Christensen.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Rocky Mountain Health Care, especially Leona, Sheri and Darlene, for the loving care of their mother.
Graveside services will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery, Tuesday, May 28, 1996 at 1 p.m. Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main. In case of inclement weather, services will be held at the mortuary.
