Energy futures prices rose slightly Friday in light trading ahead of the holiday weekend.
Light sweet crude oil for delivery in July settled up 9 cents at $21.32 at the New York Mercantile Exchange.The session ended a volatile week that included a United Nations agreement allowing Iraq to resume oil sales, sharp price gains Wednesday and modest profit-taking on Thursday.
U.S. energy futures markets will be closed Monday for Memorial Day.
Unleaded gasoline for June delivery settled at 64.72 cents a gallon, up .47 cent. Home heating oil for delivery in June settled at 54.46 cents a gallon, up .07 cent.
Natural gas prices were also higher, with contracts for delivery in June settling at $2.361 per 1,000 cubic feet, up 24 cents.
In London, North Sea Brent Blend crude oil for delivery in July settled at $19.10 per barrel, up 21 cents, at the International Petroleum Exchange.
