Ruth A. Conrow, 81, died May 24, 1996.

She was born to Charles Wesley Ryan and Stella M. Ford Ryan, and raised in Montana and moved to Salt Lake in 1955 because of her husband John's position as geologist for US Smelting and Refining Co. John preceded her in death in 1971. She was actively involved in church, civic affairs and volunteering, usually on behalf of children, for over 50 years. She was involved with various phases of Girl Scouting including being president of the Utah Girl Scout Council during the construction of a headquarters building. She gave many hours as a Grey Lady at Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. She was employed by Salt Lake County Aging Services to direct the Federal Foster Grandparent Program for 15 years, until her retirement at the age of 69. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter AB, honorary member of Zonta Club of Salt Lake area, Utah Volunteer Directors, and a past member of Junior League. She traveled extensively. She kept in close touch with members of her extended family, whom she loved very much.Survivors include, son, Douglas Conrow (Nancy), Linda (Patrick) McKissiel, Steven Hancock, and by Marylin Babcock (Niece), and Darlene Conrow. Grandchildren, John Conrow (Wendy and their five children, Mark Conrow (Karen) and their five children, Matthew Conrow (Michelle), Katie Conrow, Amy McKissick, Ryan McKissick.

The family will receive friends at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, Wednesday, May 29, 1996 from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 1996 at 1 p.m. at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 261 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to the American Lung Association, or any favored charity. Funeral directors: Evans & Early.
