DEATH: JAY GOLDEN BASTIAN

Jay Golden Bastian, 78, died May 26, 1996 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

He was born September 28, 1917 in Roosevelt, the son of Jacob Wilford and Leah "Birda" Timothy Bastian. He married Lora Johnson, December 18, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Mr. Bastian lived in Vernal, Utah, Idaho Springs, Colorado, Evanston, Wyoming - moved to Garland in June of 1994 and resided there at the time of his death.

He was active in the LDS Church and held many positions and at the time of his death was serving as a Logan LDS Church Temple officiator. He served as a Merchant Marine during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, of Garland; eight children and their spouses, O'Neita and J.D. Wallis, West Valley City; Deon and Ray Manning, Garland; Ronald and Inella Bastian, Vernal; Roetta and Gary Jones, Katy Texas; Neil and Susan Bastian, Salt Lake City; Kathleen and Brian Turley, Garland; Kenneth and Suzie Bastian, Vestal, New York; Jenalyn and Timothy Rowley, Littleton, Colorado; 41 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and two sisters, Weldon, Derrill, June and DelMar Astian; Mildred Hadley and Leila Eason.

He was preceded in death by sister, Maurine Bishop, daughter, Donette, two granddaughters, Stephanie Turley, Kimberly Bastian.

Funeral Services will be held Thurs. May 30, 1996 at 11 a.m. at the Garland Tabernacle, 140 W. Factory, with Bishop Gary Huber, officiating. Friends may call Wed. May 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 No. 100 East, Tremonton and Thur. 9:30 to 10:40 at the church.

Interment will be in Vernal, Utah on Fri. May 31, where graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Maeser Cemetery.
