A 20-year-old woman was killed Tuesday when her car collided with a slow moving train north of Capitol Hill.
Killed was:Rebecca Enniss, 20, address unavailable.
Enniss' car crossed the railroad tracks about 12:30 p.m. and was hit by the train's engine, which was traveling between 2 and 5 mph. There are no arms at the crossing on 1300 N. Beck St. where Enniss was hit, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Phil Kirk.
The collision pushed Enniss' car more than 30 feet and did so much damage that the young woman had to be extracated from the vehicle. She was taken to LDS Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Kirk said.
Kirk said other cars appeared to see the train and began stopping, and it's unknown why Enniss continued across the tracks.
