BARDOT GRINDS UP S. KOREA OVER ITS DOG-MEAT EATING

Brigitte Bardot wants South Korea to ban the sale of dog meat - a national delicacy - if that country becomes host of the 2002 World Cup soccer championships.

In South Korea, dog meat is believed to be able to enhance health and sexual prowess. It is openly purchased and served. The actress said Western sensitivities would be hurt by the sight of dead and live dogs sold in the markets.

She said neither fans nor "other friends of animals will tolerate this practice," noting that the South Korean government banned the sale and consumption of dog meat during the 1988 Summer Olympics.
