Odyssey House of Utah, a nonprofit substance abuse treatment agency, hopes businesses and groups will support its new adolescent treatment center by adopting a room there.
Odyssey House is converting the old Moose Lodge on 607 E. 200 South into an 11,000-square-foot treatment facility. But it needs financial help for five bedrooms, three classrooms, a large group room, a small group room and a waiting room. "Adoption" cost ranges from $2,000 to completely furnish a bedroom for four teenagers to $9,800 to furnish a large group room. Each adopted room will be named with a brass door plaque honoring the sponsor.
The facility will house youths 13 to 18 who are involved in the Odyssey House Adolescent Treatment Program and the fully accredited Odyssey Academy, an alternative high school that offers individualized learning on a year-round basis.
