GEORGE CATMULL, EX-COMMISSIONER OF S.L., DIES AT 84

Former Salt Lake City Commissioner George B. Catmull, 84, died May 3, 1996, in Salt Lake City.

After spending more than 30 years in the construction business, including more than 20 as a private contractor, Mr. Catmull was appointed in 1963 to fill a vacancy on the city commission, a post he held for nearly nine years.Mr. Catmull was the superintendent of the Salt Lake County Roads and Bridges Department from 1935 to 1941. He helped to build the original road up Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, May 7, at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 S. Wasatch Blvd. (1500 East). Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. before the funeral. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
