Riding in a horse-drawn carriage, President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his wife, Marjorie, greet Scouts at the annual Scout-O-Rama Saturday at the State Fairpark. Sponsored by the Great Salt Lake Council, Boy Scouts of America, the activity attracted about 15,000 boys and 100,000 visitors, including parents and families of Scouting youths. Early-day members of Boy Scout Troop 1 of the Waterloo Ward were recognized at the gathering, which had as a theme "Celebrating Utah's Centennial." Activities included a Dutch-oven cook-off, games, Scouting demonstrations, a pinewood derby, Indian dances and raingutter regatta.
