RESCUE TEAMS TO RESUME SEARCH FOR 2 AT LAKE POWELL

Rescue teams were expected to continue their search Monday for a Chandler, Ariz., father and daughter presumed drowned last week in Lake Powell.

David, Donna and Stephanie Strom were boating Thursday north of Hite Crossing when 6-year-old Stephanie, playing on the pontoon boat's front bow, fell into the water.David Strom dove into the frigid water to rescue his daughter but was unable to find her. After his fifth dive he did not reappear. Neither was wearing a life jacket, said National Park Service spokesman Mark Igo.

Divers spent Friday searching for the pair, but poor visibility and high water from the spring runoff forced officials to stop underwater efforts at the point where the two were last seen.

Park service crews will continue daily boat searches of the area using sonar instruments, said Igo.
