A 4-year-old girl remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after the car she was a passenger in struck a mini-van near 12300 South and 1300 West.
Ann Marie Arbuckle was in the front seat of a northbound Chevy Celebrity on 1300 West when her father apparently entered the intersection and struck a westbound van about 12:45 p.m., Salt Lake Sheriff's Lt. Kevin Taylor said.Using the Jaws of Life, emergency personnel had to rip off the vehicle's roof to get to the victims. The girl was taken by helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center with severe head trauma.
The girl's father, James Arbuckle, 33, and an unidentified 8-year-old boy in the Chevy Celebrity were taken to Jordan Valley Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. James Arbuckle was listed in stable condition there Tuesday.
The driver and passenger of the minivan were not seriously injured, Taylor said.
