DEATH: GARY THOMAS TORKELSEN

Gary Thomas Torkelsen, son of Thomas L. and Marjorie Torkelsen, passed away on May 4, 1996, in Fairbourn, Ohio.

He was born June 16, 1931, in Riverton, where he attended school and graduated from Jordan High. He served four years in the Air Force, stationed in England; while there, he married Marie Brookfield (later divorced). They had three beautiful children. Gary was a "Master" Mechanic working for Gibons and Reed, C.P.C., and as Service Manager for Mack Truck. He loved hunting and fishing with his Dad and family. He also enjoyed many years of service with the American Legion, serving as Commander of Post 140, riding with the Riverton Rough Riders, and playing golf with his son, Phil. He married Connie Ewer; she died in 1983. In 1987, he married Annette Clawson in the Salt Lake Temple. He found great happiness in doing genealogy and serving in his ward in Ohio.He is survived by his wife, Annette; his children, Terry (Ron) Halls, Tina (Donald) Zakraisek, Phillip (Mishawn) Torkelsen; grandchildren, Christie, Greg, Sean, Patrick, Anthony, Nikki, Samantha, and Zane; stepchildren, Scott (Marilyn) Southwick, Monte Ray Southwick, Troy (Michelle) Southwick, Michelle (Craig) Tracy, Teresa (Martin) Higely, and 12 other wonderful grandchildren; his mother, Marjorie Torkelsen; and sisters, Joan (Ramon) Darton, Janet (Ned) Wardle, Gayla (Rod) Maxfield.

Preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be May 9, 1996, 11 a.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 West, Riverton. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment, Riverton Cemetery.
