VIKES' STEVENS PROVES TOO MUCH FOR BULLDOGS

Jodi Stevens threw her first no-hitter of the season to lead second-ranked Pleasant Grove to an 11-1 victory over Provo in the Region 8 finale for the two teams Tuesday.

Stevens struck out nine Bulldog batters and helped her own cause with a three-run homer in the second inning.The Vikings finished the season with a perfect 10-0 region mark and now await next week's state tournament.

In other action Tuesday:

Region 1

Bonneville 3, Weber 1: Alicia Nay, Ashely Anderson and Melinda Webber each drove in runs in a three-run sixth inning for the Lakers as they rallied to knock off the Warriors.

Fremont 7, Northridge 0: The second-ranked Silver Wolves used the one-hit, five strikeout pitching of Shelby Scadden to lead them past the Knights.

Roy 21, Clearfield 3: The Royals capped a big game with a 10-run sixth inning to ground the Falcons. Jessica Jones had four hits and Anne Kelstrom drove in four runs for Roy.

Region 2

Bountiful 2, Davis 0: Amy Biegel drove home the game-winning run with a single in the third inning for the Braves as they beat the Darts. Melanie Sorensen struck out five for Bountiful.

Viewmont 2, Skyline 1: The Vikings remained tied for the region lead by outlasting the Eagles. Katie Ethington drove in the winning run and Chelsa Bastian gave up just two hits.

Highland 3, Cottonwood 2: Aubrey Ainsworth's fourth hit of the game capped a two-run sixth inning for the Rams as they rallied to defeat the Colts.

Region 3

Taylorsville 4, West Jordan 1: The Warriors used a five-hit, four-run rally in the sixth inning to stun the Jaguars.

Granger 9, Kearns 1: Misti Dotson had a single, double and home run to help the Lancers grab their first region win of the season by knocking off the Cougars.

Bingham 5, Hunter 2: Michelle Powell went 2-for-3 at the plate and picked up the win on the mound for the top-ranked Miners in a victory over the Wolverines.

Region 4

Alta 9, Brighton 2: Stacy Holmes collected three hits and scored twice for the third-ranked Hawks as they blitzed the Bengals for another solid victory.

Hillcrest 15, American Fork 2: The Huskies bounced back from a disappointing loss to Alta with a 15-hit, 15-run attack against the Cavemen. Jessica Elliot had four hits and scored four times for Hillcrest.

Orem 10, Jordan 6: Stacy Harding pitched the Tigers to victory and also drove in two runs against the Beetdiggers.

Region 5

Sky View 6, Mountain Crest 1: Two runs in the first inning were all that the Bobcats needed to grab a road win over the Mustangs.

Box Elder 18, Ben Lomond 0: The top-ranked Bees closed out their home schedule by blanking the Scots. Shandee Nelson had three hits for Box Elder.

Bear River 11, Ogden 1: The Bears solidified second place in the region with a big win over the Tigers. Buffy Chournos hit a two-run homer for Bear River.

Region 6/7

Cyprus 9, Olympus 3: Aimee Sheppick had two hits and drove in two runs for the Pirates as they capitalized on nine walks to defeat the Titans.

Tooele 7, West 1: Brandy Butler lowered her earned run average to 0.81 after helping the Buffaloes defeat the Panthers. Kristi Hill had a two-run double for Tooele.

Granite 6, East 4: Tiffany Ahre gave up just three hits in picking up the win on the mound for the Farmers.

Judge 10, Woods Cross 3: Lisa DeVargas smacked two doubles and a triple and Erica Solak had three RBIs for the Bulldogs as they caged the Wildcats.

Region 8

Springville 8, Spanish Fork 4: Tiffany Weight and Nicole McCarty each hit triples for the Red Devils as they doubled up the Dons.

Payson 13, Timpview 3: The Lions roughed up Thunderbird pitchers for 18 hits to improved their region mark to 6-4.

Region 9

Hurricane 14, Pine View 13: Holly Hinton drove in four runs, including the game-winner on a sacrifice fly that capped an 11-run sixth inning for the Tigers as they defeated the Panthers.

Snow Canyon 17, Cedar City 11: Krista Lambert was one of three Warrior players who hit homers as they finished the region season with a 7-1 mark and the region championship.

Region 10

Union 7, Lehi 6: At Carbon, the Cougars scored six unearned runs on seven errors by the Pioneers to win a playoff for the region's second place in next week's state tournament.

Region 11

Richfield 7, Emery 5: The Wildcats claimed second place in the final region standings with the victory, relegating the Spartans to third place.

North Sanpete 9, Carbon 8: Cindy Cook went 3-for-4 at the plate and the Hawks scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip the Dinos.

Region 12

Manti 19, Juab 16 : The top-ranked Templars were outhit 13-7 but still managed to outlast the fifth-ranked Templars. Amber Lyons came on in the seventh to pick up the win for Manti, despite giving up a three-run homer to RaDona Steele of Juab.

Morgan 13, South Summit 3: The Trojans picked up a needed road victory by dumping the Wildcats.

North Summit 16, Rowland Hall 6: Brianne Wilde collected three hits and Shelina Pace got the win on the mound as the Braves picked up their first region win of the season.
