The old Bennett Paint tower is history.
A demolition crew razed the longtime blighted structure Wednesday afternoon. The eight-acre site, comprised of the warehouse tower and four office and dock loading zones, had been dismantled piece-by-piece since a "demolition" ceremony last month. Cleanup crews still need to remove the refuse, South Salt Lake Councilman Don Loock said. The project is scheduled to be complete by the first of June, said the Libra Group's Paul Jensen. Libra owns the deed on the Bennett property and hopes to finance the demolition with help from the city redevelopment agency. Jensen was unavailable at press time for an updated report on the estimated $750,000 project.
