GIVE STUDENTS A SAY IN DECISIONS

My name is Jamie Salazar. I am in the seventh grade at West High School in a gifted and talented program. I am writing concerning the decision to ban certain clubs in the Salt Lake City School District. I realize that the choice has been made. Even though the students affected by this choice do not agree with it, there is nothing we can do about it now. However, I hope that the student body can work together and organize some of the clubs we have lost as after-school clubs. Some of the clubs banned are important, and as long as we work together we can make it work.

The school board needs to be very careful about how it addresses the students at this point in time because many students are angry at their decision. I think that they should inform students about any other decisions they make whether or not it has to do with the clubs or not. We want to know what is going on and play a part in decisions concerning our school life.Jamie Robyn Salazar
