Harold Lomax Evans, age 86, passed away May 30, 1996, after a long illness.
Born August 22, 1909, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Samuel and Edith Lomax Evans. Married Marjorie Jenkins March 5, 1938. Marriage later solemnized in Salt Lake Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church, and a High Priest in the Hawthorne Ward. Worked at Grays Motor Service as an auto and marine mechanic for 40 plus years. Served at Fort Douglas Motor Bay during World War II. He was known as the neighborhood mechanic, always giving of his talent without pay. He was a caring, giving man with many friends. Others came first. He is loved by his family and will be greatly missed.Survived by wife, Marjorie; daughter, Pat Riley (Larry), Brookings, Oregon; son, Brent (Christie), Heber, Utah; four grandsons, Peter, Brad, Carl, Arron; sister, Alline Evans. Preceded in death by parents and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 1996, 12 noon at the Hawthorne Ward Chapel, 808 East Roosevelt Ave. Friends may call Monday 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East So. Temple, and one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
