Elton Vernon, 69, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, died May 30, 1996, at a Salt Lake hospital, with his family by his side, after suffering extensive head injuries in a fall.
Born June 24, 1926, in Wanship, Utah, to John Malin and Belva Winters Vernon. Married Betty Jean Ercanbrack November 5, 1947, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Nothing was more important to Sid than his family, helping others and taking care of his animals. He served in various church positions and all who knew him loved him for his kind, quiet and gentle ways. Served in the Navy during World War II.
He was prceded in death by one brother and his parents. Survived by his loving wife, children, Lori Vernon, Kris (Randy) Nielson, Robyn Green; grandchildren, Sid Vernon Green, Kayla Jean Green; sister, Ethie (Floyd) Tryon; brother, Clyde (Sandra) Vernon; brothers-in-law, Ron and LaMar (Geraldine) Ercanbrack.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 3, 1996, at 12 noon, at the Crescent 1st Ward, 116 East 11400 So., Draper, Utah. Friends may call Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, and Monday at the church, 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Wanship Cemetery.
Family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the LDS Hospital Trauma Unit.
