Brighton wrestler shines in Finland

Utah high school wrestling champion Brady Jones captured top honors at last weekend's Veiikko Rantanen tournament in Helsinki, Finland. The Brighton High product outscored four opponents, who represented Sweden, Estonia, Finland and Poland, by a combined score of 43-0.

Jones will join Wasatch High standouts Cody, Cole and Cael Sanderson in Colorado Springs next weekend as invited guests to the Olympic Training Center. They will train with the USA Olympic Greco Roman team.

Utah County runners take 1st in California

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Utah County runners took top honors in both 3,200-meter races at Saturday's Golden West Invitational high school track meet.

Ryan Andrus of Mountain View led the boys race from start to finish in recording a time of 9:13.50. Provo's Tara Rohatinsky took the tape in the girls race with a personal best clocking of 10:35.87.

Andy Jensen transfers to Weber State

OGDEN - Andy Jensen (6-7, 225-pound forward) has transferred to Weber State University. Jensen spent this past season at the University of Utah. In accordance with NCAA Rules, Jensen will sit out the 1996-97 season and have two

years of eligibility with WSU.

"Andy will give us good size and ability at our power forward position,"said WSU head coach, Ron Abegglen.

Jensen was a standout prep player at Viewmont High under Coach Clyde Nelson, averaging 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds a game his senior season.
