Alma Moore Peterson DeHaan, 90, died Tuesday, June 11, 1996 at McKay-Dee Hospital after a valiant fight with cancer.

She was born May 17, 1906 in Columbia, South Carolina, a daughter of Hal C. and Mattie Glover Moore.She married Lorenzo E. Peterson on June 13, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died January 23, 1964. She married Henry DeHaan on October 12, 1985 in the Ogden LDS Temple. He died August 11, 1992.

Alma was a devout and faithful member of the LDS church where she held many positions. She was best known for her beautiful, deep singing voice. She had sung solos in many of the wards in Ogden, and also the Dee Event Center and Ogden Tabernacle. From the time she was 19, until she was 22, she sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. For the past 25 years, she has held the position of Relief Society Chorister in the Kingston Ward. She was a temple worker at the Ogden LDS temple for 13 years.

Mrs. DeHaan had been a sales person for the LDS Distribution Center for 10 years.

Her home had been on a half acre of land where she had masterfully planted and groomed magnificient flower gardens, fruit trees, and vegetable gardens. She freely shared her abundance with family, friends, neighbors and ward members.

Surviving are: two sons and two daughters, L. Edward (Elaine) Peterson, Ogden; Craig A. (Annette) Peterson, Orem; LuRue P. (Dwight) Stevenson, Ogden; Elizabeth P. Brewster, Layton; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Kingston Ward Chapel, 1425 Kingston Dr.

Friends may call at Lindquist's Odgen Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park.
