Margo J. Ackerlind Peterson, beloved wife, grandmother, mother, sister, and daughter, returned to her Heavenly Father on June 8, 1996, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 7, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Curtis Elof and Cleo Mildred Despain Ackerlind. Married James J. Peterson on August 2, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. She graduated from West High School and went on to the University of Utah to receive her teaching degree. Taught at Libby Edward Elementary.Margo was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in many callings, several years as choir director. Much of her zeal for life was expressed in her love of music and singing. She sang with The Shuberts and the Jo Burton Singers. Taught piano for many years. She was a teacher's aid at Ridgecrest Elementary. She loved sewing, roses, being with her family and going to the temple. Raised five children, three served LDS missions, one currently serving in New Caledonia, Fiji.
She is survived by her husband, and children Kristin (Tom) Farnsworth, Michael (Heather) Peterson, David (Heidi) Peterson, Brian and Karyn Peterson, all of Salt Lake City, father, brother, Curtis, Jr., four grandchildren. Preceded in death by mother.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 17, 1996 at 11 a.m. at the Butler 7th Ward, 1435 East 7200 South. Friends may call on Sunday, June 15, 1996 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and at the ward on Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Redwood Memorial Estates.
