Retired Captain Michael Kent Coons was born February 27, 1952, in Salina, Utah, to Kent R. and Jeanette Ivie Coons. Attended Murray High School and the University of Utah. Earned Masters degree from Golden Gate University. Member of the LDS Church.
Married to Susan Quintana, 1974. Together they had four children. Later, divorced. Married Annie Veater, 1991, sealed in Mesa Temple, May 1996. Three step children. Peacefully left this life at his home in Mesa, Arizona, June 9, 1996.Michael was devoted to his family, church, and country. He proudly and valiantly served 16 years in the US Army, including the 82nd Airborne Division. Received medical retirement after sustaining serious injuries from a parachuting accident.
He will be remembered by his parents, Midvale; wife, Mesa, Ariz.; children: Patrick, Tawnya, Valerie, Benjamin Green, Clark Warren, of Mesa, Ariz.; Janelle (Brian) Blake, Salina, Utah; Maleisa (Wayne) Brown, Aurora, Utah; six grandchildren; sisters, Marie (Gerald) Eldredge, Salt Lake City; RaeJean (Richard) Hemrick, Idaho; Jolie (Lee) Tanner, Taylorsville; Kalleen Coons, Midvale; Nanette (Steve) Woods, West Jordan; one brother, Ron (Ruth) Coons, West Valley City; and many nieces and nephews, for his courage in all of life's battles.
Funeral services Friday, June 14, 11 a.m. in Aurora LDS Chapel, under the direction of Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home, Salina, Ut.
