Utah's "centennial city" hopes its celebrations in honor of the state's 100th birthday will be a harbinger of good things to come for the both the state and the fledgling city.
Events planned for the Taylorsville centennial celebration include a Boy Scout encampment beginning Friday to be attended by 800 youths and Scout leaders at Valley Regional Park.At 9 a.m. Saturday, the city parade will begin at the Fred Meyer parking lot and continue along Redwood Road and then west to 2700 West before turning north to Valley Regional Park.
Taylorsville will celebrate its incorporation as a city at 7 p.m. July 1 with a gigantic birthday cake for the city following a presentation at Salt Lake Com-mun-ity Amphitheater at 4550 S. Redwood.
