The 17th Annual Utah Short Film & Video Festival is in full swing, with 161 shorts in various competition areas to be presented by the Utah Film & Video Center nightly through Friday, June 21.
The festival is a showcase for competitive short works (under 30 minutes) on film and video in a variety of categories, ranging from narrative and documentary to experimental and animation. There's also a category for Young Media Artists under the age of 18.Competition judges are two past festival winners, filmmaker/an-imator Lisa Mann of Pasadena, Calif., and artist Chip Lord, San Francisco. They will view entries over a three-day period to select the award winners.
Collected festival films will be screened at 5:30 and 8 p.m. in the Salt Lake Art Center auditorium, 20 S. West Temple. Daily admission is $5 and includes both evening screenings; festival passes for all screenings are $25. For further information, phone 534-1158.
