Our beloved father and grandfather, Parley Woodrow (Jack) Preece, age 78, of St. George died from complications of a lingering illness Saturday, June 15, 1996.

He was born February 17, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Parley Percy and Harriet F. Schettler Preece. Parley married the late Dorothy Marie Goddard Preece on November 16, 1939.He loved the outdoors, living life on horseback, hunting and fishing. He loved to have the wind in his hair, breathing the cool, fresh air and being one with nature. Parley loved his family and shared with them his knowledge and all that was important to him. He always wanted to bring happiness to others.

Survivors include his children, Linda J. (Ken) Nation, of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Dianne F. (Bob) Hellander, of Sandy, Utah; Julie A. (Vic) Mitchell, of Tempe, Arizona; Peggy J. (Millard) Andrus, of Lehi, Utah; Hal L. Preece, of Sandy, Utah; Russel P. (Linda) Preece, of Oakley, Utah; Shelley (Rudy) Maier of Missoula, Montana; 38 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20, 1996, at 12 noon at the Veterans Memorial Building, Camp Williams, Utah. Visitations will be held Tuesday, June 18, 1996, 6-8 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and Thursday, 10-11:30 a.m. prior to services at Camp Williams. Interment will be in the Veterans Cemetery at Camp Williams under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, St. George.
