Jimmy Dean Coombs, 49, of Manassas, Virginia, died June 14, 1996 in Brunswick, Georgia.
He was born August 2, 1946 in Moroni, Utah to Morris William and Bessie Sophia Jensen Coombs.He served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, including 3 tours in Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a proud veteran. Later he was a detachment commander of Marine security guards at U.S. embassies in Bonn, Germany and Warsaw, Poland. After his service he joined the Dept. of State with the Diplomatic Security Service as a security training specialist. He was a member of the VFW, serving as vice commander.
He married Sharon Barr on October 2, 1970 bin Reno, Nevada. He was a loving father and beloved husband.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; two children, Jimmy Dean "J.J." Coombs, Jr. and Ronalie Coombs, both of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Mark Kay (RaNae) Coombs of Moroni; and Gordon (Tushain) Everts of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Inez (Ernie) Clayton of LaVerkin, and Lula Kirkman of Kearns. He was preceded in death by his father, Morris and mother and stepfather, Bessie and Adolph Everts.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call Wednesday, 6-7 p.m. and Thursday, one hour prior to services. Burial, Fort Dougals Cemetery.
