SHARE UINTA OFFICIALS SEEK PUBLIC COMMENT ON REPAIR PROPOSAL FOR AM.F. CANYON

Uinta National Forest service officials are seeking comment on a proposal by PacifiCorp on repairing the ruptured flowline in American Fork Canyon.

The flowline, ruptured in May 1993 by rock fall, is associated with the American Fork Hydroelectric project. The line rupture in 1993 is in the same location as a break that occurred in the pipe in 1991. Water escaping at high pressure created a gully that was enlarged by the rupture in 1993.PacifiCorp has proposed mitigation for the erosion damage and repair plans. Those plans will be evaluated incorporating public comment which should be sent to the Pleasant Grove Ranger District by July 8: Attention, Dave Stricklan, 390 N. 100 East, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062.

A "Show me" trip is scheduled Saturday for the interested public and will leave the Pleasant Grove District office at 11 a.m. Hiking shoes are recommended and personal transportation required.
