SHARE MILLARD TO DECIDE ON AUTHORIZING A TAX LEVY FOR LEEWAY PROGRAM

Millard County residents will trek to the polls Tuesday to authorize or turn down the authority of the school district to levy taxes for a state-supported voted leeway program.

The tax would be in addition to other taxes and levied at the rate of .00044 cents per dollar of the taxable value of property within the district. It would, for example, cost a property owner with a home valued at $75,000 about $30.Officials said there will not be a special registration for the voted leeway election. Absentee ballots are available at the county clerk's office.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Polling places will be in town halls or city buildings in Fillmore, Kanosh, Oak City, Leamington, Holden, Scipio, Hinckley, Delta and Lynndyl. Other locations will be in Meadow at the fire house; Deseret Community Building for the Deseret-Oasis District; the residence of Verl Tolbert in Abraham; the fire house in Garrison; the LDS chapel for Sutherland; and the Flowell Electric building in Flowell.

The official canvassing of the ballots by the board of education will be Tuesday, July 2, at 1 p.m. in the district office in Delta.
